Who I Am

by gresmer @ 7:54 pm

I’m not sure what details people will find interesting about me so I have decided to make this an interactive process. If there is anything you have always wanted to know about me – here is your chance to get the answers. If you have a question, just email it to me (gresmer[atthingy]yahoo.com) and I will try my best to provide the answers. To get the list started, I have added some general questions and answers. I will continue to update this page as I think of things people might be interested in.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Gwen But Were Afraid To Ask

Posted Aug 30, 2005
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: I have a really broad range of music interests. I pretty much listen to everything – even country (much to the amusement of some of my friends). I am not sure there is any genre of music that I don’t like something about. My “favourite” music changes pretty much daily – it all depends on my mood.

Q: {Submitted by Wendy Buhlman} What inspires you?
A: I am inspired most by other people. People who have overcome obstacles, people who strive for self-improvement, people who continue to fight even when hope is hard to find. I find great inspiration in what other people are able to accomplish against all odds. It makes me want to be better than I am. It makes me want to give something back to the world so that maybe I can become an inspiration for others.

Q: From all of the places you have travelled to, which was your favourite?
A: Prince Edward Island – hands down! When I was a kid I was enthralled by Anne of Green Gables. I dreamed for years of going to PEI. I have always loved books but when I was a child, books gave me an escape. They gave me a way to dream of a life that was not like the one I was actually living. And Anne was one of my favourite characters. A few years ago, I took a trip to New Brunswick and PEI. Crossing the Confederation Bridge was cool but when I saw the island for the first time, I had this overwhelming emotional reaction. I never thought that I would make it there and the fact that I had was almost unbelievable to me. And because of that unforgettable feeling – PEI will always be special to me.

Q: Where were you born?
A: I was born in north eastern Ontario in the town of Deep River. Although my family lived in a different town, Deep River and North Bay were the two choices for hospital births. Deep River was the choice for my blessed arrival.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in the small town of Mattawa. Yep that’s right – I am a hick. I believe the town population sign reads 2500 – it has been at 2500 for my entire life. Apparently births and deaths happened at exactly the same rate. Or maybe we just couldn’t find anyone to do a recount. The Trans-Canada highway runs through the town and there are some pretty great scenic areas around there. The town industry is lumber – if that goes, the town will die for sure.

Q: {Submitted by Taras Shuper} How many years did you sing in the school/church choir?’.
A: None. Neither had a choir actually. I did play the organ in church though. For those of you out there with dirty minds – organ = piano – tsk tsk tsk.

Q: What is your favourite colour – besides black?
A: There are colours besides black? Hmmm – then I would have to say red although that is not a locked in answer. I’m a little fickle in the colour department – colours fall in and out of favour in my closet. And before you ask – my least favourite colour is PINK – and that answer never changes!

Q: Do you have any allergies?
A: Yes, I am allergic to cardboard boxes, band-aids, carrots, dust, mould, grass, pollen, ragweed and lilacs.
Modified September 29, 2005 I am also allergic to Christmas Trees and wool.

Q: What is your favourite scent?
A: The smell of fresh strawberries. There is nothing like it!

Q: If you could only have one book with you for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
A: The dictionary. I can’t imagine ever being bored as long as I have language. If I could only have one book I would have to choose the one that will continue to teach me things.

Q: What is your favourite flower?
A: Daisies – particularly gerber daisies.
