Drawing a blank

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 8:44 pm

I am sitting here searching my brain hoping for some shred of an idea for tonight’s post but nothing is presenting itself.  Nothing at all.

I guess the only thing of interest I can share is that my sister Lise and her husband Robert arrive from Edmonton tomorrow.  I won’t see them until Sunday but I’m looking forward to the visit.  Besides that small tidbit of information I have nothing to share.  Sorry folks!

Dribble, dribble, dribble

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 9:01 pm

This morning I was watching BT and I saw a story on a kid that was trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by jogging and dribbling a basketball as far as he can in 24 hrs.  According to the story this is about the 15th or so time he has attempted to get into the book.  I just have one question.  Why??

2 days and counting

Filed under: Health Highlights — by gresmer @ 9:16 pm

For two many months I have been slacking off on my workouts.  While I have been enjoying the break I am not enjoying the fact that I have let my weight go up again.  So instead of feeling bad about what I let happen, I have decided that it is time to do something about it and so I have renewed my commitment to my workouts.  So far this week I did my weight workout on Monday and a 5KM walk on Tuesday.  So far so good.  My body is sore and I am tired but that is just a temporary situation brought on by the fact that I have been lazing about for far too long.  In a couple of weeks I am sure I will have readjusted to my old schedule and I am sure I will start to see some progress.

Only 67 days to go

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 4:48 pm

After spending almost 15 minutes traveling around in the Ministry’s automated phone system (which is quite an impressive service actually) I successfully booked my G2 driving test.  The first available date just happened to be the day I wanted and so on November 3, 2006 at 11:35AM I will be navigating my way around Aurora.  Hopefully by noon I will have gained membership into the world of G2 drivers.  (insert crossed fingers here)

Another one bites the dust

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 8:52 pm

Another weekend is gone and another week begins.  Today I headed to Ajax to prepare brunch for my Mom.  She requested brunch as her birthday meal and so at 9:15AM this morning I arrived to start the preparations.  As always, there was a ton of food and I am actually still full.

It was a great weekend but with all the stuff going on the time just flew by!!  I can’t wait to enjoy the extra day off next weekend.

Hmmm, what to say?

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 8:48 pm

I don’t have anything to say tonight.  No rants, no clever insights, no weird and wacky links.  Nothing at all.

Oh wait, I do have something to say…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!  I hope you had a wonderful day!

5:00 already?

Filed under: Work Whatnots — by gresmer @ 9:14 pm

It is quite amazing how quickly 5:00 comes when you spend the bulk of your day spinning dolphins and playing Boggle.  I did do some work and I did offer some useful input to a couple of people on the team but I will admit that my day was certainly not the most productive day I’ve ever had.  I could have found some more productive things to spend my day on but I am just trying to take advantage of the down-time I am experiencing these days because I am sure it won’t last.

Oh come on man!!

Post for August 24  (Due to dolphin shenanigans I did not have time to post this yesterday.)

That damn dolphin!  That damn Seanny!!  I got Sean hooked on Dolphin Olympics (the little game I mentioned a few posts ago) and was feeling pretty good about it because he sucked and my score was pretty high.  To understand why that would make me feel good you need to understand that Sean beats me at EVERYTHING!!  He is like kryptonite to game playing Gwen.

This time I thought I had him though until he pulled off a score that was about 50000 more than my highest.  GRRRRRRRRR!  So last night I spent a chunk of time trying to beat him – to no avail – and I ran out of time to post my entry for yesterday.

I will beat you Seanny – you just wait!!  Come on wee dolphin, give a girl a hand will ya??  Spin like the wind, spin like the wind!

Addendum:  As of 10:38AM on August 25, I am in the lead by almost 140,000.  My current high score is 520,691 and Sean’s is 382,000 – Wheeee!

Addendum #2:  10:57AM – Sean 1,642,931.  FRIG!@!

This little piggy needs help

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 9:03 pm

Tonight on my walk home I saw something that I found baffling.  There was a woman walking down the street slightly ahead and to the right of me.  To make sure I didn’t inadvertently step too close to her heels I was looking down.  That is when I noticed the oddest thing.  The woman was wearing high-heeled sandals which wouldn’t have really been anything of note except for one thing.  They fit so poorly that her little toe on her left foot would actually touch the pavement with every step she took.  WTF??  Besides the bad shoe choice this woman was well put together and looked like she had some money to throw away on clothes.  Apparently however, her fashion sense only extended to the ankles – after that all hell broke loose.  And how uncomfortable would it be to have your toe dragging along the sidewalk every time you took a step?  Dumbass!
