Would you like to sit here?

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 9:25 pm

You are seated on a crowded bus and you watch an elderly couple get on and notice that all seats are taken. What do you do? Don’t know? Well, let me just help you out with the answer. YOU GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GIVE UP YOUR SEAT DUMBASS!!!

This morning I was on the bus headed to my driving class and I was in such a situation. Because I have respect for other people and some basic manners, I offered my seat to the woman and she gratefully accepted. Meanwhile, her husband was still standing and the people sitting around them just sat there not making eye contact and pretending like they didn’t see him standing there. The longer I stood beside him watching the others ignore him the more irritated I became. What the hell is wrong with people that sit by watching a man of about 80 struggling to stay standing with every lurch of the bus?? Dumbasses!!!!

Just N things to go

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 9:48 pm

I took one thing off my To Do list today. I filed my taxes. One small step for most, one giant step for Gwen – or something like that. It feels good to have finished at least one thing. That was however pretty much the only productive thing I got done today. The rest of my time was spent doing some thinking, some TV watching and some napping. Doesn’t make for a very interesting post but oh well – they can’t all be winners.

One really good way to end an amazingly intense week is to enjoy a few pints with friends. And that is just what I did tonight. By the time I reached the pub I was definitely in need of some blessed beer. 4 pints later and the world looks much better – much much better!

The best intentions, but…

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 10:43 pm

I finished my taxes over a month ago and yet I still haven’t hit the send button. This is just one thing in a long list of unfinished things in my life. I find that I am very easily sidetracked from completing stuff. If I don’t finish things when I start them they just seem to fall into the “I’ll get to that later” bucket. Some things have been in that bucket for years. So I have decided that this is the year of finishing stuff. I have a huge list of things that I have been putting off for ages and so I am going to try and get through some of it. Some things are little insignificant things and some are larger more life changing things. Either way, I am going to get some of them off my list in the coming months. I have been making some progress lately and I plan to keep the momentum going.

What’s the first item on my To Do list? Well I guess that would be to uh, make a To Do list.

Beep, Beep – Look OUT!!

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 10:31 pm

I contacted my in-car driving instructor today to set up our first session. Once I convinced him that even though my voice may sound like it, I am in fact not 17 years old, we decided on a day to take our first crack at teaching this old girl how to drive. I would suggest that anyone that is planning to be around the Finch subway station between 10:30 and 1:30 on Saturday May 6 make alternate arrangements. The fewer people on the road the better. He claims that in 3 lessons he can have me driving a standard well enough to pass my G2 test. Based on that and the whole 17 years old thing – I am thinking this guy may be delusional. I am both excited and scared. I’ll keep you posted on my adventures in driving.

Out, damned spot…er knot! out, I say!”

Filed under: Work Whatnots — by gresmer @ 11:28 pm

At the moment my body feels like one big knot. Every muscle is tense and my whole body is sore. I guess that is what a couple of really long work days and elevated stress levels does to a person – or at least what it does to this person. Now I am off to bed for another short night of sleep before starting it all again tomorrow. Yipee!!

The office sure is quiet at 10:15PM

Filed under: Work Whatnots — by gresmer @ 10:13 pm

It is 10:15PM and I am just leaving the office now. I haven’t had any dinner and I am tired and hungry. At this point it would probably make more sense to just curl up under the desk – the problem being that I have no food and I am so very hungry. So home to my fridge I go.

Did you know?

Filed under: Random Ramblings — by gresmer @ 8:35 pm

Did you know that the most important thing for you to know when trying to get your G2 driver’s license is how to complete a 3-point turn?
Did you know that many people fail their G2 test because they fail to check their blind spot when they are at a yield sign? (those pesky cyclists could be just sitting there waiting to sneak up on you and apparently cutting them off is frowned upon)
Did you know that Yonge Street is actually Highway 11?
Did you know that sitting in a room without windows with a group of teenagers is not exactly the most exciting way to spend an entire Sunday?
Did you know that today was my first of 4 in-class driving classes?
Did you know that I am supposed to start my in-car lessons next week?
Did you know that the thought of driving around on the street with other drivers terrifies me?
Did you know that I am going to do it anyway because you can’t grow as a person if you run away from what you are afraid of?

My head is like a football, I think I’m gonna…uh sleep

Filed under: Random Ramblings, Work Whatnots — by gresmer @ 8:36 pm
It might have been the late night, it might have been the stress.
It might have been the non-stop email, I don’t know, but I am such a mess
My head is like football, I think it might explode
Tell me, me oh me oh my – wasn’t that a crap day?

Good cards people – I asked for good cards

Work has been pretty intense this week and so by the time my workday ended today I was in need of some fun. Thanks to the crowd at Ryan’s poker game, I found the fun I was looking for. I didn’t win (of course) but I was once again successful at bringing Ryan the luck he needed to win – both games actually. Now I am very very very very very tired and I need to sleep. I can barely keep my eyes open as I am typing this.

I just noticed that my blog clock didn’t adjust for daylight savings time – really it is 2:21 as I am writing this. I’m impressed by the fact that I can still notice the little things even when exhausted. I’m also impressed I remembered how to change the clock at this crazy hour.
