I can’t find the mental focus I need to craft a post at the moment so I will just give up.

Today I learned…
I was digging around in the guts of my blog and I decided to try and make some changes to my blog theme. With some patience and some educated guesses, I successfully expanded the width of my writing area and changed the colour of the header text. I have had very little exposure to CSS so even though I know it probably doesn’t sound like much of an accomplishment, I am quite pleased with myself. I learned something new and adjusted something that has been bothering me – not a bad way to end the day.

C. U. T. E, cute!
I finally finished my creative project and now that it has been delivered, I can tell y’all what it was.
When I found out that my friend Sean was going to have a baby, I decided to knit a sweater for the wee one. I had made these really cute cardigans for my niece and nephew and I thought I would make the same for Sean’s new baby. After some last minute touches last night, I was able to deliver it today to the proud Daddy.
Ain’t it just the cutest thing??

Goodbye Tready, hello squirrels
I took my sore leg and determination and headed out to Queen’s Park this morning to give jogging another go. It was so nice to be outside again. This was my first cardio session outside for the year and I was happy to see my old path once again.
As for the jogging – I did the planned 10 cycles of 1 minute jog/2 minute walk and I won’t lie to you – it wasn’t easy! I got through it though and although my leg is really sore I am still able to stand up so that is good news. I wasn’t in my target heart rate zone for long enough today however. I have to get used to regulating my own walking pace without the help of my friend Tready (aka treadmill at the gym). I am sure I will get better at that each time I go out. My plan is to stick to the 1 minute jog intervals for a bit while I nurse my leg. When it feels better I will continue on with increasing the intervals.
I do have one question though:
How do you treat a strained muscle?
-
a) Ice it
b) Apply heat
c) Take enough drugs to either knock yourself out or make the pain go away
d) Prop the offending leg up on the couch and eat potato chips (pick me, pick me, pick me)

If at first you don’t succeed…
I was unsuccessful with purchasing my heart rate monitor on eBay so today I went to SportChek to pick one up. It’s kinda nifty actually. It is the Polar F4 and it is really easy to use – at least for the basic stuff. I’m looking forward to using it to track my progress on my jogging program. The program was going really well and then last Sunday I hurt my left knee and I have been barely able to walk since. I am going to give it a try tomorrow though to see if I can continue. Taking the stairs is really painful however my regular walking stride isn’t sending shooting pain up my leg anymore so that is a good sign. I am very concerned that I may not be able to resume the jogging though. Grrrrrr! Stoopid leg!!

Aaah – what a relief!
I had to do some work today and while I probably could think of a long list of things I would have liked to do today that didn’t involve work, I do have to admit that it was a pretty productive day. Not only did I get my data validation task completed, I was also able to address my inbox situation. I have been sitting with over 250 messages in my inbox for weeks now and it was driving me crazy. After a lot of purging, I am now sitting at 77 and I am so relieved. Now granted, these are 77 things that I actually have to do but at least I cleared out all the clutter. Sometimes just getting rid of the clutter gives you a new outlook on stuff.
Now I wonder if I can find time to clean my office as well this week. There is a whole lot of clutter in there!

Yakety Yak, please talk back!
Due to extremely busy schedules and Linda’s incessant travelling, she and I have not had a lot of time to chat lately. I was in need of one of our great chats and so I gave her a call today and we talked for 2.5 hours. The conversation was worth every penny I will have to pay for it. I only have one complaint really – I couldn’t see her as we were talking. Get your high speed internet sorted out will ya! I didn’t give you that webcam so it could gather dust on your shelf – sheesh!

Is it better to have bid and lost?
Well my first eBay experience has ended in a loss. The bid for the heart rate monitor has exceeded what I want to pay. Oh well, at least I tried something that I was hesitant about. Maybe it was better to have bid and lost than to never have bid at all. Maybe I will give the whole thing another try at some point down the road and maybe the next time I will emerge as the winner.

Phew – it found another good home
I was beginning to worry that no one had picked up the book I released at Union Station the other day but today I received an email notifying me that someone had picked it up. I was so relieved. I was beginning to feel like I had let the book down by leaving it in a place where no one would pick it up. I am so happy that it has continued on with its travels. This first successful release with motivate me to get my own book out there soon.
